The Three Layers of RBAOS

RBAOS is organized around three architectural layers: the model layer, the execution layer, and the workflow layer. Each layer has a distinct responsibility, and together they create the coherent operating environment that defines the platform.

The model layer handles all interaction with AI models. Rather than locking users into a single model, RBAOS routes requests to the most appropriate model based on the task, the performance requirements, and the cost profile. This means the same workflow can use a fast, cheap model for simple tasks and a more capable, expensive model for complex ones, automatically.

The Execution Layer

The execution layer is where real actions happen. When an AI agent needs to run code, query a database, call an API, browse the web, or manipulate a file, those actions happen in the execution layer. This layer provides the sandboxing, the tool integrations, and the security boundaries that make autonomous execution safe and predictable.

RBAOS Code lives primarily in the execution layer. When you write a script in RBAOS Code and run it, the execution layer handles the environment setup, the code execution, the output capture, and the result routing back to the workflow that triggered the execution.

The Workflow Layer

The workflow layer is where tasks become processes. Individual model calls and execution steps are combined into sequences that can run automatically, respond to triggers, branch on conditions, and report results. This is the layer that transforms RBAOS from a capable AI interface into actual infrastructure.

A marketing team can define a workflow that monitors their brand mentions, summarizes new content, generates a draft response, and queues it for human review, all triggered automatically by new data arriving in the system. That kind of workflow lives in the workflow layer and uses the model and execution layers to do its work.

How Connectors Extend the Architecture

Connectors are the integration points that allow RBAOS to interact with external systems. Every connector represents a two-way bridge: RBAOS can read data from the connected system and write actions back to it. This is what allows RBAOS to function as infrastructure rather than as an isolated tool.

Security and Reliability

RBAOS is built with enterprise-grade security and reliability requirements in mind. The execution layer uses sandboxed environments to ensure that code runs safely. The workflow layer includes error handling, retry logic, and monitoring to ensure that workflows continue operating even when individual steps fail. Access controls and audit logging provide the governance infrastructure that enterprise teams require.
